Things to Know About Land SPP
LAND SPP
Nowadays, when energy demand is increasing and energy resources are depleting, renewable and sustainable energy sources are becoming more important day by day. Solar energy is one of the clean energy options that can be preferred instead of fossil fuels, which can cause many environmental problems such as global warming, air pollution, climate change and noise pollution. One of the ways to produce large amounts of energy by utilizing solar energy, which does not harm the atmosphere with harmful emissions such as greenhouse gas emissions or fuel consumption, and provides unlimited and environmentally friendly energy to the Earth, is to establish land solar power plants. (Land Solar Power Plant).
What is Land SPP?
Land solar power plants are also known as solar farms, solar parks, solar fields. Solar powered electrical panels produce electricity directly from sunlight. When sunlight reaches the panels, the semiconductors inside the solar panels are activated and usable electricity is produced. In a solar farm, many solar panels are grouped together to produce electricity. Panels are made primarily of glass, aluminum, copper and other common materials. Solar projects also deliver power to the grid using steel racks to position panels, electrical cable, and inverters and electrical transformers.
Solar Maintenance
All Land Solar Equipment is safe and contains the materials found in home appliances. Solar panels contain small amounts of chemicals that enable them to produce electricity. These compounds are completely sealed within the glass and coatings of the panels. Once their useful life is up, solar panels and equipment are easy to dismantle and recycle. Solar plants are designed to withstand severe weather conditions. Solar panels are very long-lasting and do not require any maintenance other than routine cleaning. If solar panels are damaged, they can be quickly replaced with new ones.
It is a long-term efficient energy source as it can operate smoothly even after 25 years.
Land Solar Benefits
Solar farms are not only used to meet the energy needs of individual residences or companies; In addition, the energy obtained from solar farms is transferred to the public electricity grid, and the electrical energy needs of residences, organizations or companies that do not individually have solar panels are met from renewable sources. Solar power plants, which make significant contributions to food, agriculture and animal husbandry, ensure human and environmental health by minimizing dependence on fossil fuels and harmful effects on the environment. The most important factor behind the growth of solar energy investments is the decreasing cost of solar energy technology and installation. The cost of new large-scale solar power generation is now competitive with traditional coal and natural gas power plants.
Installation Process
The first issue to be considered in Land Solar Power Plant installation processes is the status of the land on which the installation will be made. The installation land must have the status of marginal land (land other than absolute agricultural lands, special product lands and planted agricultural lands). The land should face south and be in a position to receive very good sunlight. Since the high radiation values of the area where the land is located will increase the amount of energy produced, the location of the land should be taken into consideration during the installation phase. Since sloping and shaded terrain can reduce energy efficiency, performing a shading analysis on the site beforehand can help identify potential shading problems and make a choice accordingly. The land where solar power plants will be installed must be close to energy transmission lines. Proximity to the substation increases project efficiency, facilitates obtaining solar power installation permits and reduces investment costs.
For solar power installation, it is first necessary to pass the financial assurance and approval stages. A connection agreement must be obtained from the relevant institution for the land and network lines on which you want to distribute during SPP installation. Working with an engineering company that specializes in establishing solar power plants will enable you to achieve results more easily and successfully.
The steps required to successfully complete the land solar installation are as follows:
- The target land for solar power installation is determined and the necessary survey work is started,
- After cost and profit calculations are analyzed, financial management is determined and if necessary, application is made to grant and support programs,
- EIA and Marginal Agriculture Report must be obtained for the solar power plant intended to be established.
- Then, the application documents required for installation must be submitted to the electricity distribution company.
- The process of making the land to be used for solar power installation suitable for installation must be completed,
- After the SPP installation is completed, the connection process is completed,
Land solar power plants are power plant systems with extremely rich functions that produce electricity by utilizing sunlight. The factors that make a difference in the offer in solar power installation can be listed as follows:
- The land where the solar power plant will be established,
- Project phase,
- Ground characteristics and size of the land,
- Warranty,
- Requested power.
- When receiving offers from institutions for solar power installation, it is important to submit the items in a predetermined and documented manner.
Solar Power Plant and Licensed Electricity Generation
The permission required for legal entities to produce electricity is called a license. You can also install a solar field for licensed electricity production. According to the regulation, facilities producing energy over 5 MW must obtain a production license. The license period for licensed facilities is determined as 49 years. This produced energy can be fed directly to the grid and sold at market value. Licensed SPP can be sent directly to the grid.
- It is possible to sell licensed electricity in accordance with market conditions.
- There is no obligation to show consumption in licensed solar power plants.
- There is no capacity limit in licensed solar power plants, but transformer capacities may be filled due to unlicensed electricity applications.
- Licensed solar power installation is subject to mandatory measurement procedures such as solar exposure time measurement.
- It is possible to benefit from advantageous government supports or special loan products of banks for licensed solar energy investments.
Licensed and Unlicensed Solar Power Plant Preference
The following points may be decisive in which cases licensed and unlicensed solar power generation facilities will be selected:
- Licensed solar energy can be sent directly to the grid without intermediaries. Unlicensed solar energy is subject to offset.
- Conditions in which the electricity produced is not required to be consumed are suitable for licensed facilities because there is no obligation to show consumption in licensed solar power plants. In unlicensed solar power plants, the amount of electricity consumption determined by a two-way meter for net metering must be offset with the energy produced.
- In unlicensed solar power plants, unlike licensed facilities, there is no obligation to obtain an EIA report. Therefore, in cases where there is a time constraint, unlicensed SPP installation may be preferred.
- In cases where unlimited capacity is needed, Licensed Solar Power Plant installation should be preferred. Unlicensed facility applications may cause the allocated transformer capacities to be filled.
- While there are mandatory measurement procedures before installation in licensed solar power plants, in unlicensed facilities net metering measurements are made only for offset during the operation period.
- If a freer area is available for installation, licensed solar power plants can be preferred. Except for public institutions, it is mandatory to install unlicensed solar power plants on the roof. There is no such restriction in licensed facilities.
- Licensed facilities are more suitable for a long-lasting investment. The license you will receive for licensed solar power plants has a usage period of 49 years. In unlicensed solar power plants, it may be possible to cover the electricity consumed with electricity produced and sold to the state for 10 years. Production after 10 years will be subject to market conditions, not the state's purchase guarantee.
- In conditions where electricity demand is not high or production will be limited, it is appropriate to turn to unlicensed power plants. While unlicensed solar power plants can produce up to 5 MW of electricity, production above 5 MW is required to obtain a license.
- In addition to licensed Solar Power Plants, grid connection is also mandatory for unlicensed Solar Power Plants if offsetting is required over consumption. Net metering cannot be done without a connection to the network.
- Either way, it is necessary to establish a working solar power system to generate electricity.
Solar Energy Field Support and Grant Programs
The government provides a 10-year purchase guarantee for solar energy fields in our country.
Apart from this, there are also KKYDP and KOSGEB supports for solar farms.
