I want to build a solar power plant on my land, what should I do?
There are important factors to be taken into consideration for the solar power plant (SPP) to be built on land.
In addition to land selection criteria and legal procedures for installation, it includes some important elements in terms of efficiency.
1. Land Status : It is one of the first requirements that the land where the solar power plant will be installed has marginal land status.
Marginal agricultural land; Absolute agricultural lands are lands, other than special crop lands and planted agricultural lands, where only traditional tillage agriculture is carried out due to soil and topographic limitations.
In order to install a solar power plant on such lands, the land must have a cadastral road frontage.
SPP suitability opinion must be obtained from many institutions such as the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board, General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In this process problem, the property of the land where the solar power plant will be installed will be transformed into an Energy Production Site (EPP).
2. Irradiance Values: "Solar radiation value" Radiation value, also known as irradiance value, is the name given to the measurement of the energy emitted from the sun on the earth.
These values are among the main factors that have a great impact on the efficiency of solar power projects.
If the region where your land is located has high radiation values, the efficiency increases and the return on investment becomes faster.
Considering the radiation values, Turkey has a total annual sunshine duration of 2737 hours and 7.5 hours per day. Sunshine hours in Turkey decrease as you move north, starting from Southeastern Anatolia and the Mediterranean. In addition to all this, it would be correct to say that Turkey is at an extremely advantageous point in terms of radiation due to its location.
3. Facade: It is of great importance that the land where the solar power plant will be installed faces the south side. If it faces other directions, the efficiency of the solar power plant decreases and the return on investment period increases. For this reason, lands facing south are the best choice for solar power plant installation.
4. Shadow: Shading that may occur due to structures, vegetation or other obstacles near the land where the solar power plant will be installed can significantly reduce the efficiency of solar panels.
For this, it is necessary to perform a shadowing analysis beforehand.
5. Distance to Energy Transmission Lines and TEİAŞ Substation (Transformer Substation) Capacities: The distance of the land where the installation will be made to the transmission lines of the energy distribution companies is an important criterion for obtaining the solar power plant connection permit. The distance to the lines may even prevent you from obtaining an installation permit. Additionally, increasing this distance will cause installation costs to increase.
The other issue is whether there is a space suitable for the capacity of your Solar Power Plant (TEIAŞ Substation) where the energy transmission lines you will connect from your land terminate. If there is no gap in the TM, your solar power connection request will not be accepted even if it meets all other criteria.
Taking these factors into account will help ensure a successful and efficient land solar power installation.
